That's quality "Made in Austria"
We start in the here and now - as a fully established company that can look back on a very positive development. The company is based in Fulpmes in the Stubai Valley between the local mountains Serles, Elfer and the Kalkkögeln. Their speciality is tinkering and testing with the highest possible safety standards for mountain sports. In which they focus on research and development with innovative technical products.

And with success: the new FISH Autotuber is the first Autotuber for single ropes with an additional release lever, the OVALOCK and FIFTY:FIFTY carabiners have a completely new approach in terms of locking mechanisms and the patented COBRA® Quick Release is considered the strongest and safest buckle on the market.
About 100 employees currently work around AUSTRIALPIN and the production units in Fulpmes, bringing not only know-how but also a good deal of passion. They concentrate fully on important developments - from the idea to implementation to market launch, they take plenty of time for that.

Thus, mature products are presented that have already been extensively tested in the test laboratory and under real conditions as well as having passed the rigorous external checks by test houses.

We focus on healthy growth and for 25 years on our core competence: metalworking. This is firmly established on Tyrolean soil and should remain so. With this location, we achieve the highest quality standards, secure local jobs, forgo long delivery routes, promote sustainability and are fans of Austria's high environmental standards.

Good care for long and safe use.

Some valuable care tips for your AUSTRIALPIN product.
Who doesn't know the good old stuff? How come it has been in use for so long? Not just because of the quality, no, there is much more to it than that: Care and proper storage. If you want to keep your stuff for a long time, you have to take good care of it. We show you how.

Carabiner

  • Clean heavily soiled carabiners with clean water, cloth and/or soft brush.
  • Never expose to strong heat to dry, air dry.
  • Metal on metal always needs a lubricant, otherwise it will "creak and squeak". For carabiners, use a dry lubricant rather than oil, as commercially available oil attracts dust and dirt particles. It is best to apply the lubricant in all cavities of the open and closed carabiner. Particularly important: After use in or near the sea (high salt concentration in the air or water), the carabiners must be cleaned immediately, as salt may corrode the metal.

For the use of carabiners, see:  http://docs.r2g.nl/austrialpin/AA_instruction-manual_carabiner-slings.pdf

Express Slings

A test in a reputable magazine showed that express slings should be replaced about every five years if used frequently or every seven to ten years if used less frequently. You can usually tell by looking at a sling whether it is still usable, according to Peter Manhartsberger, Product Manager of AUSTRIALPIN:
If the seams are worn out or the sling is torn, it should be replaced immediately. Be careful with project slings! Exposure to sunlight and weather conditions can make them brittle internally and therefore life-threatening, but this is not necessarily visible on the outside. Think about it and decide for yourself where, how and what you clamp.

Ice climbing materials

After each use, the ice climbing materials and especially the blades must be subjected to a careful visual examination: If you find even the smallest unreliable spot or even a crack, you will have to replace it. Every knife will break at some point, the only question is: when? In most cases, you can tell the time before it happens during use.
When changing blades and hammers and after frequent use, the bolts must be retightened, otherwise the thread will knock itself out. The blade is then exposed to many times its normal forces with each stroke - resulting in an increased risk of breakage.
Here are a few sharpening tips from AustriAlpin user pro ice climber Benni Purner:
Ice climbing equipment should in principle only be sharpened by hand, never by machine. Personally, I use a mill saw file for this. It is best to clamp the plectrum in a vice so that you always have the same angles. Always file towards the tip. As a final tip: file sharply, but not too sharply - otherwise the blade becomes too thin and will quickly become blunt again.

Crampons

The crampons are an important element between yourself and the ice. To find the best crampon foot, bring your own mountain boots when you buy them.

Crampons for steep ice (SKYSTEEP, SKYCLIMB and TYROL P12) should be sharpened regularly to ensure a good grip on steep, frozen terrain.
Again, after each use, check thoroughly for cracks and, if necessary, replace or retighten the screws. To avoid rust formation, the crampons should always be packed in a dry and clean place.
